The Redskins will release RB James Davis, according to a league source.
Davis has missed much of the preseason and been at odds with the organization.
He is healthy and hopeful of catching on elsewhere and his agent, Jason Fletcher, had been in talks with team officials recently to seek his release.
Selected by the Browns in the sixth round of the 2009 draft, Davis signed with Washington after the Browns released him in the middle of last season. He appeared in three games for the Redskins last year, recording 51 rushing yards on 15 carries and 45 receiving yards on four catches.
