Giants close window on Umenyiora deal

The New York Giants informed Osi Umenyiora‘s agent, Tony Agnone, on Wednesday that he no longer has permission to seek trades with other teams, according to a league source.

No clubs were willing to give up a first-round draft choice, but sources said several clubs had interest if compensation was a second-day draft pick (rounds 2 or 3).

Umenyiora, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, has been upset with his contract, which is scheduled to pay him $7.1 million in base salary during the next two seasons combined.
