The Steelers have legitimate interest in Plaxico Burress, and his meeting with the team Saturday wasn’t just a courtesy call.

The Steelers could really use a veteran receiver like Burress, with his unique size and skill set in the red zone. With Hines Ward on the PUP list with a thumb injury, and Antwaan Randle El released, there’s a need at the position.

I know Ben Roethlisberger wants Burress back.

There’s very real potential that Burress lands with the Steelers, as well as the Giants, both of his former team. The Jets also are in play, as they’re looking at big targets who are alternatives to Braylon Edwards. The 49ers also have expressed interest.
