Jacobs willing to restructure contract with Giants

The New York Giants are working diligently to retain their key free agents, most notably RB Ahmad Bradshaw.
The Giants are working against the salary cap, though, and had to make some tough decisions by cutting offensive linemen Shawn Andrews and Shaun O’Hara on Thursday. There was also no guarantee of a return by Brandon Jacobs, who is set to make $4.6 million with a cap number of $6.7 million next season. But Jacobs is willing to restructure his contract, ensuring his return and giving the Giants some cap flexibility.
The Giants want to keep Bradshaw, and the Dolphins’ trade for RB Reggie Bush gives them leverage in what has proved to be a soft market for running backs. The options for Bradshaw elsewhere are limited.
The Giants are also still talking with Plaxico Burress, with a meeting scheduled today.
