Bears shipping TE Olsen to Panthers

Veteran TE Greg Olsen is heading to the Panthers in a trade from the Bears.

Terms of the deal are unknown at this time.

Olsen was a first-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft and developed into a steady contributor to the Bears’ offense. His best season came in 2009, when he finished with 60 receptions for 612 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Panthers are in the process of overhauling their tight end corps. They signed Jeremy Shockey to a one-year deal in February and agreed to a deal with former Jet Ben Hartsock on Wednesday.
