The Ravens began informing veterans of their pending release Monday and are hopeful of being able to re-sign TE Todd Heap, WR Derrick Mason and DT Kelly Gregg, but they’re trying to clear salary-cap room to make other moves.
Baltimore is trying to keep OL Marshal Yanda, who turned down a deal averaging $6.5M per season before the lockout, according to a league source, and will be pushed by Washington, among others, to keep him. Signing Yanda and getting DT Haloti N’gata extended long term and no longer on the franchise tag are the Ravens’ priorities, sources said, and they also hope to retain CB Josh Wilson.
However, the team realizes it likely will lose a lot of free agents, including safety Dawan Landry (he could land in Jacksonville), FB Le’Ron McClain, OL Jared Gaither and Chris Chester, and CB Chris Carr, sources said.
