The Cover Two podcast featuring Bucky Brooks and Steve Wyche was born during the NFL lockout. In this week’s version, the duo crosses their fingers that they’ll never have to refer to the labor strife again in the present tense.
NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora gives us the final details being ironed out between the NFLPA and league owners. La Canfora and Wyche also cringe at the suggestion of Brett Favre joining the Eagles and give their thoughts on sleeper free agents, one of whom could leave the Ravens in a bad spot if he bolts.
Brooks brought the heat in some columns last week regarding free agents not to overpay and teams that will barely be disrupted by the lockout. He expounds on both subjects and breaks down the science of scouting undrafted free agents — something personnel people around the league have been doing for months.
Joe Reedy, the Bengals beat writer for the Cincinnati Enquirer, also joined the show and dropped an interesting name of a veteran QB who could pique the Bengals’ interest. Reedy also dove into the science of what could be Marvin Lewis’ plan to build an offense around his young core.
Finally, in an ode to the lockout, Wyche summons a brass band from N’awlins to deliver the proper second-line sendoff to the labor strife.
