Brandt: Don’t expect Bush to leave Saints

As we (hopefully) inch closer to the end of the lockout and the start of free agency, one player that a lot of fans have been asking about is actually still under contract: Reggie Bush.

Gil Brandt was asked about the New Orleans Saints running back Monday during his weekly live chat on, and here’s what he had to say:

“He’s under contract with the Saints to be paid $11.8 million. I think the Saints would like to keep him and Bush would like to stay in New Orleans,” Brandt said. “It all comes down to whether or not they can come up with a new contract that involves less money. But they will both try to make it work.”

Brandt had an opportunity to chat with Bush just a couple of days ago when the two met up at a weekend event in Dallas, and they discussed the subject. “I’ve heard the stories out there that say Bush won’t take a pay cut to stay in New Orleans,” Brandt said. “He did not say that to me.”

Added Brandt: “He feels a real sense of loyalty to the city of New Orleans and to the Saints franchise. So it’s all a matter of working out a deal.”
