Kirwan: Some deals might already be in place

“Hopefully this will be our last chat before the lockout is over,” began NFL.com senior analyst Pat Kirwan in his weekly Monday chat on NFL.com.
And then Kirwan proceeded to address a number of questions about what different teams might do when the free agency period does get started. Kirwan also wrote earlier Monday about the frenetic schedule that will take place when teams get the green light. When asked about that subject in the chat, he said to expect things to happen almost immediately, because teams will already have spent significant time talking to agents.
“I absolutely think there will be deals worked out,” Kirwan said. “and we’ll see deals done on the first day. I spoke to Dick Vermeil, who also thought teams and agents will have things worked out. Expect Kevin Kolb to go quickly.”
On the subject of the Eagles’ QB, though, Kirwan added that it may not be such a foregone conclusion that he’s going to be traded to Arizona.
“I spoke to Ken Whisenhunt this weekend,” Kirwan said. “He thought it was important for the Cards to get a veteran QB — and I’m not sure Kolb counts as a true veteran as compared to Kyle Orton. It will be interesting to see which way they go at the last minute.”
