In this week’s Cover Two Podcast with Bucky Brooks and Steve Wyche, Denver quarterback Tim Tebow provided some insight into why he won’t be hurt much by the lockout, despite the Broncos firing the coach that drafted him — Josh McDaniels — and replacing him with former Panthers coach John Fox.
With the lockout nearing its end and teams projected to be back to work within the next week to 10 days, Tebow will get to state his case, according to Wyche, why the starting job is his to lose. Wyche caught up with Tebow and several other current and former NFL players at the American Century celebrity golf tournament in South Lake Tahoe, Nev., this week, including Tebow’s new boss, former Broncos quarterback and now team president John Elway.
Also featured in this week’s podcast, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo explains the Cowboys “leadership” formula, which Brooks said replicates the burden of self-accountability coaches expect from players. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio shares how — and why — rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert will be brought along in a hurry.
Then there’s NBA Hall of Famer and current shoot-from-the-hip broadcaster Charles Barkley, who provides his hilarious, self-serving reason why the NFL needs to get back to business as soon as possible.
