Data Points: Ware leads NFL in sacks since 2005

As the Player 2K series debates the best players at each position during the 2000s, the linebacker discussion is sure to include a couple of guys known for rushing passer. But the ”debate” over the best pass rusher really begins and ends with one guy: DeMarcus Ware.
Since the Cowboys outside linebacker came into the league from Troy University in 2005, he’s crashed the pocket with more regularity than any other player — not just linebacker – in the league.
While Ware leads all linebackers, no lineman has rushed the passer more effectively during the same span than Jared Allen of the Vikings. Allen has racked up 74 sacks, an average of 12.3 per season. Pretty ridiculous.
