Dhani Jones unveiled his list of the NFL’s top 10 linebackers during a recent visit to NFL Network, a list that Warren Sapp so eloquently said needed some Febreze so “it wouldn’t stink anymore.” Most noticeably, Jones’ list was missing names such as LaMarr Woodley and Brian Urlacher.
“When was the last time Urlacher got off a block?” Jones said about leaving the four-time first-team All-Pro off the list.
That’s great television, and soon the criticism was brought to Urlacher’s attention. During an appearance on “Waddle and Silvy” on ESPN 1000 in Chicago, Urlacher made it personal, taking a shot that Jones is known more for fashion than football.
“I think we were drafted in the same class, right? Is he a 2000 guy? I haven’t heard anything about him since then,” Urlacher said. “I saw him on a TV show with a bow tie on, though. So I know him better for how he dresses than what he does on a football field. Look, guys are going to talk. I’ve definitely had a lot worse things said publicly from guys, so I can live with it.”
