Woodley: Manning keeps Colts’ window open

No question we’re getting a lot of blog mileage out of LaMarr Woodley‘s visit to the NFL Network studios on Thursday. Like you would expect, Woodley wasn’t shy about throwing around his opinions, giving us something new to chew on during the locked-out offseason.
Thank you, LaMarr.
To recap, Woodley took issue with his ranking, and that of QB Ben Roethlisberger, on “The Top 100″ list. He ranked teammate James Harrison as the best linebacker in the NFL. He let us know the Ravens won’t win a Super Bowl “in this lifetime.” And, as far as he’s concerned, it doesn’t matter if Carson Palmer is on the Bengals or not.
When the conversation turned to the Colts, though, Woodley was quick to pay respect to No 18. Apparently, it does matter if Peyton Manning is on the Colts.
“I don’t think (their) window is closing at all. As long as you have Manning back there at quarterback, that window will never close,” Woodley said. “Look at last year how many injuries they had on that team. Manning still went out there week in and week out and got the job done. Now, the day that Manning is not there anymore, that’s when I’ll start worrying about the Colts.”
Frankly, we’d expect nothing less than Woodley giving it up for Manning. Looking (way) ahead, the Colts and Steelers meet in Week 3 in Indianapolis.
