Data Points: Start-by-start study of Kevin Kolb

Kevin Kolb recently started practicing with his teammates (former?) in one of the player-controlled practices going on across the league right now. It’s notable that Michael Vick‘s backup is practicing with Eagles players, as pretty much everyone who covers the NFL for a living expects Kolb to be donning a different uni come this fall.

With all the hubbub surrounding the Philly quarterback’s potential landing spot, it’s worth asking, “What’s the hubbub all about?”

Kolb has certainly shown potential, but those who suggest he’s the second-best quarterback in the NFC East probably should look at numbers, and not upside. While he has had solid games, a start-by-start look at his career shows a relatively inconsistent player. When he’s played well, Philly won. When he’s tanked it, his team has gone down with him.
