Data Points: Vikings’ Allen among most consistent

“The Top 100″ on NFL Network has generated plenty of controversy over the last couple of weeks. Everyone seems to have an opinion on who’s overrated, who’s underrated, and who has less of a shot at being a top 100 player than Frank McCourt does of making payroll this month.
One ranking that had analyst Jay Glazer of NFL Network and FOX Sports screaming on his Blackberry, and in the green room, was that of high-motor, caveman-looking Vikings defensive end Jared Allen at No. 80. It’s worth noting that the list was voted on by the players, and that frankly, Allen has a legit beef.
If you’re looking for consistency in a pass rusher, Allen is your man. Allen has 63 sacks over the last five seasons, second to only DeMarcus Ware (72). Some of the other names among the top sack artists over that span might surprise you. Ditto some of the missing names, like Dwight Freeney.
