Data Points: It’s tough to ignore Vick’s numbers

Several of our NFL writers and analysts were recently asked if Michael Vick could repeat his 2010 performance, when he led the Eagles to an NFC East title while maintaining an impressive 100.2 passer rating. Opinions were mixed on whether the league’s most athletic quarterback can pull off the encore.
One factor in Vick’s favor is his supporting cast of DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy and Brent Celek. Vick is arguably a more mature player now, and his football IQ may now be as important as his insane athleticism. His 21-6 touchdown-interception ratio last season is likely reflective of that development.
Still, it’s hard to ignore the numbers. As a regular starter, Vick has only had a passer rating more than 82.0 – which is relatively mediocre — once in his career, and that was last season.
