Three and out: Foster remains the main man

Here’s some fantasy takes on the NFL news of the day…

No committee situation slated for Texans: In a blog on the team’s official website, OC Rick Dennison talked about the involvement of Ben Tate in the ground attack in 2011. One thing is for sure — Tate isn’t going to put a huge dent into Arian Foster’s workload. “We’re going to give him the ball a few times and see how he does,” Dennison said. .. “Obviously, Arian’s our number one guy, and then we’ll go from there.” I still think Foster will struggle to duplicate the ridiculous fantasy numbers he recorded last season, but the fact that Tate isn’t a real threat to his touches is good news. Look for Foster to be taken with one of the first five picks on draft day.

Kevin Kolb’s next destination — the desert?: One of the biggest question marks of the offseason surrounds Kolb and where he’ll be traded once the lockout is over. Well, many on our panel of NFL experts believe he’ll be dealt to the Cardinals. Steve Wyche suggests “Kolb fits what the Cardinals want to do and part of what they want to do is retain [Larry] Fitzgerald, whose contract is nearing its end.” Fantasy owners would love such a move, not so much for Kolb’s value but more for what it would do for Fitzgerald. While the stud wideout did record 90 catches and better than 1,100 yards last season, he also finished with a mere six touchdowns. With an upgrade at quarterback in Kolb, owners would be much more at ease taking Fitzgerald in Rounds 2-3 in fantasy drafts.

Cowboys defense could be fantasy star: The Cowboys last season ranked 23rd in defense and allowed the second-most points in the NFL, leading to the addition of new DC Rob Ryan this offseason and speculation that major moves could be imminent. In fact, NFL.com senior writer Pat Kirwan suggested that the team should sign CB Nnamdi Asomugha once player movement resumes. The Cowboys clearly have interest in Asomugha, who would be the shutdown cornerback Ryan needs to help this defensive unit improve. With some talented players already in place, the addition of Asomugha would make the Cowboys defense more attractive in fantasy circles.
