Even if he is under contract, we know that Vince Young isn’t a part of coach Mike Munchak‘s plans for the Tennessee Titans.
One option on the Young rumor mill is the Washington Redskins, who Jason La Canfora says are now viewing John Beck as a potential starter. NFL Network’s Daryl Johnston likes the fit with Mike Shanahan, who favors mobile quarterbacks who make plays outside of the pocket.
“I really think the best fit is in Washington,” Johnston said. “It’s because of the (offensive) system. You want to have (a quality running game) around him. I know the Redskins don’t have the running game the Vikings have, or the receivers, so Young would have to carry the team with his athleticism in the beginning.”
Johnston references the Vikings, another speculative fit given Leslie Frazier’s desire to bring a veteran into the quarterback mix. But, as Steve Wyche noted Thursday, the Vikings have not had internal discussions about Young.
Other teams thought to be in the mix for a veteran — some in this discussion since January — are the Cardinals, Seahawks, Dolphins and Bills.
