It’s safe to say former Titans coach Jeff Fisher knows Vince Young — the player and the person — as well as anyone, having mentored the former No. 3 overall pick during all five of his seasons in Tennessee.
While we don’t know yet where Young will play next season — other than it won’t be in Tennessee — Fisher told NFL Network he believes his former starter can be successful in the NFL.
“Vince has won a lot of games; he’s led teams to the playoffs before,” Fisher said. “I believe he can (win in the NFL). It’s just a matter of him finding a place that suits him and be in the right place and work hard. But he certainly has that ability.”
Is Fisher taking the high road? Perhaps. Because Young’s ability has come under criticism far less often than his commitment to the game. While a number of teams continue to be linked to interest in Young’s services, it will be interesting to see which one gives him the chance to compete for a starting job.
