After losing in Super Bowl XLV to Cheesehead Nation, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward is turning to cheese to aid in his quest for a title on “Dancing With the Stars.”
Ward and partner Kym Johnson lead the competition eight weeks into the show, with only five pairs remaining. Monday night, Ward was dressed in a pink suit and skipping as part of his dance routine, prompting two of the judges to call his performance “cheesy.”
Unfazed, Ward addressed the cheese issue in his post-dance interview.
“(My teammates) have a lot of encouragement,” he said. “They say, if that’s what it takes to win this mirror ball, then go out there and be the master of cheese.”
After the two dances Ward and Johnson performed Monday night, they find themselves in the overall lead with 252 points, seven points ahead of second-place pair Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas.
