Lombardi: Miller will be third-down force

NEW YORK — The Broncos played their plans for the second overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft close to the vest. It wasn’t until the final 48 hours leading up to the draft that we started hearing LB Von Miller could head to Denver.
Miller, billed as of the cleanest prospects in the draft and the best pass rusher available, fills an immediate on the outside as the Broncos transition to a 4-3 defensive scheme.
“I think it will be a good pick because Miller will make an impact on third downs, which is ultimately what they need him to do,” NFL Network analyst Michael Lombardi said.
The Broncos put more value on the edge rusher over an interior line presence such as Marcell Dareus, who went No. 3 to the Bills.
