Faulk: Ingram is NFL-ready

Depending on whose opinion you listen to, draft prospect Mark Ingram is either sliding right out of the first round or is underrated because running backs are being devalued in the 2011 NFL Draft. Or both.

There are indeed quite a few opinions on Ingram. Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk, also an NFL Network analyst, continued his pre-draft support of Ingram during a look at the draft’s running back prospects by saying the former Alabama runner is NFL-ready.

“When you start to look at a guy like Ingram, you ask what he’s going to bring to the league,” Faulk said. “I believe he’s a three-down back, something we don’t see a lot of in the NFL today.”

Faulk believes Ingram is worthy of being picked in the first half of the first round on Thursday night. That’s not far off from Mike Mayock’s projection that Ingram will be the 19th overall pick by the Giants.
