Carucci: Whitehurst not the answer in Seattle

The Seahawks, despite capturing the NFC West last season, are a team with many needs. Especially when “capture” is rather generous, considering that Seattle won the division with a 7-9 record. So, what do the Seahawks look for with the 25th pick in the draft?
Two of our experts have the Seahawks taking Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett in that spot. But one of the readers in Vic Carucci‘s NFL.com chat asked if Seattle would be better off taking a cornerback or lineman in the first two rounds.
Carucci called that a sound approach and later added, “I do believe that somewhere along the line the Seahawks will draft a quarterback, because they have to have a successor-in-waiting for Matt Hasselbeck. Right now, he doesn’t appear to be on the roster.”
In other words, looks like Charlie Whitehurst does not have much a future in Seattle, despite leading the Seahawks to a Week 17 win that pushed them into the playoffs.
