The proposed rules changes for special teams under review by the competition committee would destroy a huge part of the strategy involved in the game. Sometimes, special teams is what teams excel at. The proposed rules would eliminate advantages for teams whose strengths are on special teams, and help other teams cover their weaknesses.

Michigan St. hero Gantt works out for scouts

Michigan State had 30 teams represented at its pro day on March 16, including Jets LB coach Bob Sutton and Seahawks assistant Kippy Brown. The workout was on FieldTurf, indoors, with 13 players from Michigan State and three small-school players.

Zampese, Cavanaugh attend Delaware pro day

Delaware held its pro day on March 15, and there were 15 teams present. Bengals QB coach Ken Zampese and Jets assistant Matt Cavanaugh. They were all there to see QB Pat Devlin who kept all of the numbers from the combine. He measured 6-foot-3 and 5/8-inches, and weighed 225.

Locker finds validation that decision was right

The story surrounding Jake Locker hasn’t really changed much. After defying what was seen as conventional wisdom last year to forgo the NFL Draft and return to the University of Washington for his senior season — at a time when his draft stock was high enough that he was in the conversations as a potential top overall pick — many argued that decision was a mistake.
