Illinois DT Corey Liuget was at the NFL Network studios on Monday to film a segment for “Path to the Draft”. Liuget is quickly rising up draft boards, and we took some time to get to know him a bit better.
You just joined the world of Twitter. Who was the first celebrity that your followed?
CL: [NFL Network’s] Warren Sapp. I have kept up with him from Miami to the Buccaneers and Raiders. I just did a segment with him [on “Path to the Draft”] and he gave me a little bump.
Were you a Dolphins fan growing up?
CL: I like the Dolphins, Packers, Cowboys and Bears.
Wait, what? You root for four teams? How is that possible?
CL: I used to watch the Packers and Bears play every year. And those are great games, so I like both of them. The Dolphins are my hometown team. And one of my friends is a huge Cowboys fan, so they grew on me. They all play great football.
Alright, this is not acceptable. You are forced to go with only one, who is it going to be?
CL: The Dolphins.
If you were going to play another sport, what would it be?
Who’s game would be comparable to yours?
CL: [Heat forward] Udonis Haslem. He’s not going to go out and get you 30 points a game, but he has a role and he plays it very well. He’s going to give you eight points and 14 rebounds every game.
Bowl system or a playoff in college football?
CL: Let’s keep the bowl system. The bowls are great, and not every team goes home broken hearted.
You wrestled in high school, if you could borrow one wrestler’s theme music, who would it be?
CL: The Undertaker. Starting with that ‘dong.’ Man, it’s the best of all-time.
Does the Undertaker keep his undefeated streak alive this Sunday at Wrestlemania?
CL: He won’t ever lose. He’s going to retire undefeated in Wrestlemania. It’s an amazing streak.
What is a hidden talent that others don’t know about?
CL: Man, I don’t sing, I don’t have an instrument. We might have to come back to this one.
Do you have a karaoke song?
CL: Yeah, Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” (Sings) They boo’d me off stage.
If you could participate on any reality TV show, what would it be?
CL: “Survivor.” I would like to see if my survivor instincts would kick in and if I could survive in the wild. It looks like a lot of fun.
Favorite Adam Sandler movie?
CL: “Big Daddy.” Although I just saw that new one [“Just Go With It”], and it was really funny.
In that movie, he has to choose between Jennifer Aniston and Brooklyn Decker. If you were in that situation, who would that be?
CL: Which one is which? I say Jennifer Aniston. He was a doctor, she was a doctor, so they had a lot more in common. And [Decker] knew about the fake marriage, too. I’m like are you going to accept that? You’re done.
Thank you for the time.
