Virginia Tech QB Tyrod Taylor stopped by the NFL Network studios Friday, so we took some time to get to know him as he prepares for the 2011 NFL Draft.

Were you arguing with Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh at the Orange Bowl (after throwing a second-quarter touchdown pass)?
Tyrod Taylor: No. I was asking him if I was in or if I was out of bounds. I didn’t hear him the first time, so I asked him again. It probably looked like we were arguing.

Did he compliment you on the play?
TT: No, he told me that I was in bounds.

The 49ers and Harbaugh could be looking for a quarterback this year.
TT: I did meet with the 49ers at the combine. It was a good meeting, and it sounded like they were interested. But you never really know. I am just trying to control what I can.

Dan Reeves told NFL Network that you remind him of a right-handed Michael Vick. How many times have your heard that?
TT: Can’t put a number on it.

Does it bother you?
TT: It doesn’t bother me. It’s a compliment. Michael Vick has played at a very high level. We came from the same area, so I have heard it for a long time. But he does a lot of great things that I would like to add to my game.

You could have avoided this if you had gone to say, Florida?
TT: I wanted to go to Virginia Tech to make a name for myself. To be my own man and not follow somebody else. I would have heard some of the same things had I gone to Florida.

You majored in apparel, housing and resource management. What exactly is that?
TT: It’s real estate. My focus was on student housing. Bruce Smith has come back to Virginia Tech and built student housing. With real estate the way it is, there is always a need for student housing.

Watch much TV?
TT: Nothing. “The Game” on BET.

TT: I own three — “The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Friday” and “Remember the Titans.”

If I hit the most recently played button on your iPod, what names would I see?
TT: Drake, Lil’ Wayne, Jay Z, Big Sean.

If you could play one other sport?
TT: Basketball. I played in high school and AAU. I was even asked to play at Virginia Tech.

Any NBA players you think could make it in the NFL?
TT: Blake Griffin, LeBron James. They have the frame and athleticism to play tight end or receiver.

Who is a must-follow on Twitter?
TT: Chad Ochocinco.

Madden or NCAA football?
TT: NCAA football.

Do you use yourself?
TT: Sometimes. I play a little bit of everybody.

Do any of your opponents play you, and is it weird?
TT: Oh yeah, (Hokies WR) Dyrell Roberts always uses Virginia Tech.

Does he make dumb plays that you would never make?
TT: Sometimes. I sometimes have to stop myself from saying, “I could have gotten out of that if it was the real me.”
