Might Alabama RB Mark Ingram be the next Emmitt Smith? Nobody is going that far right now, but NFL Network’s Marshall Faulk says that Ingram reminds him of Smith — and it goes far beyond wearing No. 22 and playing in the SEC.
Faulk says that Ingram has a lot of the qualities that made Smith great, such as the burst, elusiveness and the ability to make people miss.
“When you look at (Ingram) play, you understand what I’m talking about,” Faulk said. “Mark Ingram, he runs angry. He’s a guy that when I look at Emmitt Smith and how his career went and how he played in the NFL, I say Mark Ingram can be an Emmitt Smith.”
NFL.com senior analyst Pat Kirwan sees Ingram going to the Dolphins with the No. 15 pick. Kirwan did mention during his Monday chat that Ingram could fall to the second round if the Dolphins pass on him, but he might draw interest from the Patriots, Steelers or the Packers.
