Mississippi State’s Sherrod solid in front of scouts

Mississippi State OT Derek Sherrod had a personal audience of sorts during the school’s pro day on Thursday.

Sixteen teams showed up to watch the day’s events indoors on FieldTurf, including two assistant offensive line coaches from the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.

They were there to watch Sherrod (6-foot-5 7/8, 311 pounds), who ran 5.30 and 5.29 seconds in the 40-yard dash but maintained everything else from the NFL Scouting Combine. He looked solid in his workout, like a player who is probably going to be taken at the top of the second round.

Other notables:

OLB K.J. Wright (6-3 ¾, 242) — He ran 4.75 and 4.73 in the 40, did a 34-inch vertical jump, a 4.33 short shuttle and 7.25 3-cone drill.

DL Pernell McPhee (6-3, 274) — He ran 4.86 and 4.87 40s and did individual workouts.

LB Chris White (6-2 7/8, 237) — He ran 4.76 and 4.72 40s but stood on the rest of his combine numbers. He did individual workouts.
