Oregon’s Matthews won’t need surgery

NFL.com’s Steve Wyche reports that Oregon’s Casey Matthews won’t need surgery on his injured left shoulder and will participate in his Pro Day at Oregon March 10, according to his agent, David Dunn.

Matthews injured his shoulder while taking part in the bench press test at the NFL’s Scouting Combine and was unable to compete in the field drills, including the 40-yard dash. Matthews said while attempting his 14th rep, his shoulder subluxed and he couldn’t finish. He called it “a freak accident.”
