INDIANAPOLIS — Official 40-yard dash times for quarterbacks are out, and Virginia Tech’s Tyrod Taylor is the man of the hour at Lucas Oil Stadium after his 4.51-second run clocked out best among his peers.
Jake Locker‘s 4.52 unofficial run turned heads early Sunday, but his official time of 4.59 tied Auburn’s Cam Newton and sits behind Colin Kaepernick, who made a career out of scrambling away from defenders at Nevada. The 6-foot-4 5/8 and 233-pound cannon-armed passer is one of the more athletic quarterbacks of the group, but he played in a Pistol offense and must make the adjustment to NFL attack schemes.
Here’s a look at the top times:
1. Taylor: 4.51
2. Kaepernick: 4.53
3t. Locker: 4.59
3t. Newton: 4.59
5t. Blaine Gabbert, Missouri: 4.62
5t. Josh Portis, Cal U-Penn: 4.62
7. Christian Ponder, Florida State: 4.65
