INDIANAPOLIS — No question Cam Newton appears pretty comfortable as the center of attention at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Newton’s broad jump of 10 feet, 6 inches drew some “ooohs” from the crowd of onlooking quarterbacks and wide receivers Sunday morning at Lucas Oil Stadium. After some jawing with QB Josh Portis, who also played at Florida before transferring to another school, Newton wasn’t happy when the fellow ex-Gator tied his mark.

The disappointment didn’t seem to last long: Newton has been all smiles. It’s easy to take notice in the Auburn QB’s competitiveness because he’s very tuned in to watching the other players run through every drill.
