Little, Sherman lead WRs, RBs in bench press

INDIANAPOLIS — Wide receivers and running backs are scheduled to hit the field Sunday for their NFL Scouting Combine workouts, but Saturday, they hit the weight room for the bench press.

North Carolina’s Greg Little led all receivers with 27 repetitions of 225 pounds, and Connecticut’s Anthony Sherman topped the running backs with 32.

The quarterbacks — including top prospects Cam Newton, Blaine Gabbert, Ryan Mallett and Jake Locker — didn’t participate in the bench press, probably to rest their arms for Sunday’s session. All except Gabbert are expected to throw.
