INDIANAPOLIS — One might assume that the NFL Scouting Combine would amount to something of a reunion for the Polians, the first family of NFL administrators.
This is home for Bill Polian, president of the Colts, and his oldest son, Chris, the team’s general manager. Also in town is Dennis Polian, Bill’s youngest son and an assistant to Vikings coach Leslie Frazier.
Since the combine began Wednesday, however, the closest Dennis has come to his father was during a chance encounter when they almost literally bumped into each other as Bill emerged from a Thursday meeting with the NFL Management Council. They didn’t visit for very long — the elder Polian is working on a contract extension for Colts QB Peyton Manning and has been receiving briefings on the league’s labor situation — but planned on getting together over the weekend.
“He looked good,” Dennis said of his father.
A third Polian son, Brian, is an assistant football coach at Stanford.
