NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock believes former Georgia WR A.J. Green is “the real deal.”
“He’s the best wide receiver I saw on tape,” Mayock said. “He’s got the combination of height, width, speed and he catches the football. I believe he’s physical enough to get off press coverage.”
Mayock elaborated that what really caught his eye was Green’s first game back after his four-game suspension for selling a jersey he wore in the Liberty Bowl.
“Colorado had two corners in Jimmy Smith and Jalil Brown but he came out with seven catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns,” said Mayock. “He dominated the game.”
And while Mayock said he normally doesn’t like to take a receiver in the top 10 because he believes you can usually drop down to get others to fit your scheme, he would make an exception for Green.
“If you’re ever going to look at a receiver and say this is the guy that fits any offense, then A.J. Green’s your guy,” said Mayock.
