Packers’ celebration hits Broadway, Wall Street

The Packers are keeping with the Lombardi theme.

First the trophy.

Now the play.

CB Charles Woodson, FB John Kuhn, RB Ryan Grant and president/CEO Mark Murphy took in some team history on Broadway Tuesday night when they attended “Lombardi,” based on Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss’ biography on the original Super Bowl-winning Packers coach.

And Wednesday afternoon, we’ll see if any of their championship luck will do anything to help the U.S. economy as they make their way down to the New York Stock Exchange to ring the closing bell. Perhaps Woodson will deliver one of his inspired speeches. In any case, their appearance at the stock exchange is apropos. The Pack is, of course, the NFL’s only publicly-owned franchise with more than 112,000 shareholders.

Click here to watch a live webcast of the ringing at 3:59 p.m. E.T.

Other athletes who have rung the NYSE’s bell are Joe DiMaggio, Wayne Gretzky and gold medal-winning snowboarder Shaun White.
