No Steelers for steelworkers on Sunday

The Steelers aren’t the only ones who will be working Sunday night.

According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, some of their biggest fans, actual steel workers who the team was named after back in the day, are required to be in their hard hats during game time – and not the kind with two beers attached to the sides with a straw.

U.S. Steel sent out a notice on Monday to workers at several Mon Valley plants located outside of Pittsburgh that , “Employees who are absent without just cause” on Sunday or Monday, “will be subject to severe disciplinary action.”

The memo also politely points out that the Super Bowl will be taking place this Sunday for anyone in the Valley who has been living under a rock — or steel beam — for the past fortnight.

A spokeswomen for U.S. Steel declined to comment to the paper saying, “We don’t publicly discuss employee relations matters.”

Cold, U.S. Steel. Quite blue, even.
