It’s official: Pereira picks Packers

DALLAS — As VP of Officiating at the NFL for nine years, Mike Pereira was not exactly in position to be predicting the outcome of the games. Influencing the outcome, perhaps (just kidding, folks), but not predicting.

So now that Pereira is back at the Super Bowl in his new role — that of FOX NFL rules analyst — he can offer his pick. Pereira, who will be in the booth Sunday along with Troy Aikman and Joe Buck, did just that Thursday.

“I’m still influenced by how good Green Bay played in Atlanta in the playoffs,” said Pereira. “Based on that game alone, I think the Packers will win. I’ll say the score will be 27-24.”

We’re pretty sure Pereira can’t (and would never) influence the outcome of a game, but if Sunday’s final is Green Bay 27, Pittsburgh 24, we may need to bring in Oliver Stone.
