ARLINGTON, Texas — Packers FB John Kuhn sat in the stands of Ford Field during Media Day prior to Super Bowl XL as an anonymous practice squad member of the Steelers.
On Tuesday, not only was Kuhn in the middle of the Media Day throng, he even had his own podium which is typically reserved for the team’s stars.
So I asked the first question of his Media Day experience which was, “How do you explain from going to understudy to the middle of the action?”
“If you do a good job, then good things happen,” Kuhn said simply.
And with that first question, did we already surpass the number he was asked during that Media Day five years ago?
“The next question will make us surpass that.”
Kuhn’s experience with the Steelers was a hot topic. Kuhn said that he was proud of his time with them, but he didn’t bust out his Super Bowl ring this week, saying that he wants to earn one on the field this time. He also said that he was taking his time this year to enjoy his experience.
Kuhn fielded question after question for the full hour, and was one of the last people still at it, even as the Packers started heading for the exits. So as the person who started the interview session, it felt appropriate to be the one who ended it.
“So John, was it everything that you thought it would be?”
“And more,” he said.
