MOBILE, Ala. — Stanford’s Owen Marecic was a standout for the Cardinal playing on both sides of the ball. He has a chance to get drafted and is determined to make his presence felt at the Senior Bowl. He is also in a unique position to discuss two of the offseason’s hottest topics: Jim Harbaugh‘s move from Palo Alto to the 49ers and quarterback Andrew Luck‘s decision to forgo the draft and return for his senior season.
Not surprisingly, the soft-spoken Marecic was extremely supportive of both.
He called Harbaugh a “football genius” and credited him with the team’s success.
“It was a lot of fun to play for a coach like that,” Marecic shared. “He had great schemes every week and got guys in the right position to take advantage of the talent we had on the team.”
As for star quarterback Luck, he was grateful that his former teammate had the courage to stay in school.
“I’m just happy that he was able to make a decision based on what he wanted to do. I’m very happy for him.”
