Brooks: ‘Turnover Jay’ would have an impact

Marshawn Lynch caused a mini-quake last week during one of the best runs in recent history, so it’s natural that the question of whether the fifth-year running back could again go into “beast mode” arose during a live chat with analyst Bucky Brooks on Thursday.

“Lynch is very capable of giving the Bears problems on the ground,” Brooks opined. “I wouldn’t expect him to have success early, but if the Seahawks are patient with their approach, he could have success in the second half as the Bears’ defense wears down.”

As for Chicago, a major concern is which Jay Cutler will show up, as another fan noted that if it’s “Turnover Jay,” the Bears could be in trouble as they were in Week 6 — when Seattle’s blitzes led to six sacks of the QB in a 23-20 loss.

“Turnovers will have a significant impact on the outcome of the game, so it does fall on the shoulders of Jay Cutler to take care of the ball,” said Brooks.

And his final analysis?

“If Cutler can be patient and avoid the critical error, the Bears’ D should be strong enough to win the game in the end.”
