Jets anthem ‘Rex’s Gang Green’ creating buzz

There’s just no telling what type of items will get uncovered in the Around the Web blog. The latest example is “Rex’s Gang Green,” a hip-hop ode to the Jets that seems to be generating quite the buzz out there.

It isn’t trending yet on Twitter or Yahoo!, and so far no mentions from the likes of @Mark_Sanchez, @OfficialBraylon, @Revis24 or @nickmangold. But it might be only a matter of time.

Here’s a link to the song on YouTube so you can have yourself a listen. As of Wednesday morning, 29,661 views.

Here’s the chorus:

We are from New York,
We back the smack talk,
You do it your way,
We reppin’ Broadway,
This is our home team,
We rock the dark green,
We fight and we scream,
For Rex’s Gang Green.

Jets fans, you can thank Matt Fox, a 24-year-old songwriter/producer from Great Neck, N.Y., who has composed and produced, along with friend Sean Henry, according to a writeup by The Associated Press.

Now the Jets have themselves a catchy anthem for a playoff run. But, it can’t yet be compared to other team-sponsored, full-fledged productions like the “Super Bowl Shuffle” or the Bengals’ “Who Dey” rap (keep an eye out for NFL Network’s Solomon Wilcots). Not quite there yet, not yet, not until we have accompanying video of Rex Ryan with his hands in the air. Then we’ll talk.

So what do you think Jets fans … does your new anthem measure up?
