Here’s a bit of instant analysis from the NFL GameDay Final crew following the Packers’ 21-16 win over the Eagles Sunday in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
Steve Mariucci: “[Aaron Rodgers] hadn’t won a playoff game until tonight. You have to be able to do that to prove your worth. I said he would. You know what? This guy is a really good player. It’s just the first of many playoff games this guy will win. He just got his first one. Look out. They’re off to Atlanta next. Look out.”
Deion Sanders: “This defense came to play football. We understood The Bloodline Clay Matthews would come out and play ball and put pressure on Michael Vick. We understood Charles Woodson is all that and then some. Tramon Williams had seven picks this season and another one today. These guys held the Eagles to 82 yards rushing, and Vick was 5-of-13 on third downs. That’s 38 percent ladies and gentlemen. That’s why their going to the next round, solely because of this defense.”
Michael Irvin: “They put Charles Woodson in the middle like a spy. His job was to make sure Vick never got loose. He made sure Vick didn’t get lose, and made some key tackles right at the line of scrimmage on running backs. I know Woodson is still considered one of the best defensive backs, but he played football like a linebacker all game long. It was one of the most amazing things.”
