Apparently overtime rules are not the only ones that continue to baffle NFL players. Seems that some of them don’t understand playoff seeding, either.
Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco is watching the Saints and Seahawks game abroad in Europe — after the help of some of his Twitter followers. But Ochocinco does not understand how playoff teams are seeded. (Via Ochcocinco’s Twitter site.)
“Thank all of you for the Internet link, watching Saints/Seahawks, really confused how Seattle is playing at home , how’d that happen?”
Is this an indictment of the NFL’s current playoff seeding, or an illustration that some of today’s players should familiarize themselves with the rulebook? There was a time when NFL players seemed to know the rules, former Hall of Fame LB Ted Hendricks was famous for his knowledge of the rulebook.
That does not seem to be the case anymore. The most famous case being then Eagles QB Donovan McNabb‘s confession that he did not understand the overtime rules (and to make matters worse, the NFL changed the rules just as McNabb had gotten used to them).
At least Ochocinco was big enough to admit his mistake (again, via Twitter):
“I should know all NFL rules but I break the ones I should follow, please excuse me not knowing playoff procedure (don’t get there often) : (.”
Hard not to : ) after that.
