Steelers safety Polamalu active vs. Browns

UPDATE: Polamalu played and intercepted a pass on the Browns’ first offensive series of the game.

Safety Troy Polamalu is active Sunday for the Steelers’ showdown with the Browns.

The Steelers expect Polamalu to play, but they will monitor him closely before and during the game, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported, citing a source with knowledge of the situation.

Polamalu practiced Friday for the first time in three weeks and officially was listed as questionable on the final injury report.

The Steelers already have clinched a playoff berth. However, if they beat the Browns, the Steelers would claim the AFC North title and a first-round playoff bye, making Polamalu’s return needed.

For the Browns, CLE DE Kenyon Coleman (knee), RB Peyton Hillis (ribs) and G Floyd Womack are all active. Hillis has been nursing a hip injury and didn’t practice Friday. He was listed as questionable on the Browns’ final injury report.
