Saints’ Brees is done for day

Midway through the fourth quarter in New Orleans, Sean Payton decided he had seen enough of Drew Brees for the day. Even though they were trailing the Bucs 20-13 at the time, there was little to be gained for the Saints because of the Falcons blowout of the Panthers taking place at the same time in Atlanta.
So Payton played it cautious, saving Brees for another day and putting Chase Daniel in the game.
The Falcons clinch the No. 2 seed and home-field advantage throughout the NFC plays with a win today, which also locks the Saints in as the No. 5 seed, win or lose against the Bucs.
So, there’s not a lot left to play for, and Brees is out as a result.
