Fantasy owners lose Vick in Week 17

If there was ever a more glaring example of why fantasy football championships shouldn’t be played in Week 17, this is it.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News, the Eagles have decided to rest Michael Vick in their regular-season finale against the Cowboys. The talented quarterback is dealing with a few nagging bumps and bruises, and the team is locked into the No. 3 seed in the NFC postseason.

While the move is a good one for the Eagles and Vick, it’s a killer for fantasy owners.

Vick has emerged as the best player in fantasy football this season, and a matchup against the Cowboys weak pass defense had to have owners frothing at the mouth. The good news, though, is that Plan B isn’t a bad alternative – starting Kevin Kolb.

Kolb has shown major flashes of potential (remember, he was ahead of Vick on the depth chart to start the season), and facing the ‘Boys at Lincoln Financial Field makes him quite an attractive sleeper. Only the Texans have allowed more fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.
