Mendenhall stat change could alter championships

Fantasy football owners who won their Week 15 matchup in part due to Rashard Mendenhall’s 100-yard game against the Jets might now find themselves on the outside looking in during championship week.
Mendenhall was incorrectly awarded a 100-yard rushing performance due to what is being called the “phantom first down” play. The Elias Sports Bureau and the NFL have both reviewed the play, and Elias officially changed Mendenhall’s rushing yards total to 99 on Thursday.
In NFL.com managed leagues, the lost yard is likely irrelevant — it’s the difference between scoring 10 fantasy points and 9.9 points. But in custom leagues that don’t use fractional scoring, Mendenhall owners lost a full point. What’s more, leagues that reward a bonus for 100-yard rushing games could be seriously altered.
NFL.com fantasy leagues and the playoff matchups and brackets have been updated automatically, so commissioners should be sure to check the final results.
