Rex Ryan: Safe to say Jets won’t kick to Hester

This just in: Another NFL coach doesn’t think it’s a good idea to kick the ball to Devin Hester.
Hester has been trending this week following a 64-yard punt return Monday night in Minneapolis, his 14th career return touchdown, which moved him past Brian Mitchell for the top spot on the NFL’s all-time list.
“I think it’s pretty safe to say we’re planning on not kicking to him,” Ryan told Chicago media Wednesday, per Brad Biggs. “I think you can write that down as everybody else I’m sure doesn’t want to kick to him.
“I don’t think you can deal with him. As a returner, it’s ridiculous. He’s got to go down as the best punt returner in the history of the game.”
Of course, no one wants to kick to Hester. But it’s easier said than done. Vikings P Chris Kluwe tried to kick away from Hester throughout Monday night’s game against the Bears, but even when pinned outside the numbers against the sideline, Hester did his thing. And we saw what happened when Giants rookie punter Matt Dodge couldn’t execute Tom Coughlin’s instructions to kick away from DeSean Jackson.
