Vikings backup RB Toby Gerhart is the most important fantasy football player in the world.
Around this time on Friday, Vikings QB Brett Favre was ruled out for the Vikings, and RB Adrian Peterson was expected to play. Now the reverse is happening.
Favre is active and expected to start, while Peterson is out for tonight. Your Monday nightmare is happening right now. Including yours truly. Hopefully you have handcuffed Gerhart on your bench and have him ready to go in this situation. Gerhart is still a pretty good start in this situation.
If you are counting on Peterson, and you don’t have Gerhart on your bench, you might have to do the unthinkable and drop Peterson off your roster (unless you have another Vikings or Bears player on your bench to cut loose).
If you are in a vulnerable position, you are not alone. I chose to ride Peterson in one of my leagues, but benched Ray Rice to go with a matchup running back (Jonathan Stewart). Those points from Rice would have been nice. Now I’m going to have to trust a guy who went to my rival high school (Norco).
In times like this, I like to get inspiration from President Whitmore.
