Whitehurst replaces Hasselbeck for ‘Hawks

The latest in what seems like a never-ending run of quarterback changes is out of Seattle, where Charlie Whitehurst has replaced starter Matt Hasselbeck during the fourth quarter against the Falcons.

The Seahawks announced Hasselbeck is not injured. Chalk this one up to a coach’s decision.

Hasselbeck, though, was ineffective. He completed 11-of-17 passes for 71 yards with two interceptions, and the Seahawks trailed 34-10 entering the fourth quarter.

Whitehurst was all smiles after leading the Seahawks on a touchdown drive that he ended with a 1-yard touchdown run, and then completed a two-point conversion to Ben Obomanu.

By virtue of the Rams’ loss at home to the Chiefs, the Seahawks could have secured a one-game lead in the NFC West with a home win today. Instead, they’re on their way to another tie with the Rams as both teams will be 6-8.
